Joining a quilt a long......

So you know, I read lots of blogs.  And I must say I've been actively watching everyone joining the quilt along for The Farmer's Wife.  It has totally been itching at me, nagging in fact.  I have wanted to do a long ongoing project for some time.  So this is a good option to join in and get something cracking for a long term quilting goal.

Well the book arrived today and I better get cracking cause I'm a couple of weeks behind now.

fwqal button

The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt Quilt-Along I've been thinking about what fabric to use, whats in the stash that I could just throw into it without having to go and buy any new fabric.  I love the bright colours that some of the other participants are using.  But I must say I have a massive stash of Japanese fabric in purple shades that would look good.  I'll have a dig and see what I can find.  I'm off to office works tomorrow to get the templates laminated, helpful hints from  those eager beavers already off and running.
The FWQAL is hosted by Amanda and Angela, and there are all the details that you might need to know to get started.   Oh, and they have a FWQAL flickr group, too.   So we can all share as we go.

So I have No Excuses (well not yet anyway) and I can totally squeeze it into my week.

I'm looking forward to getting some of the blocks started.

So come back and check out how I'm going.  Or if my short attention span has kicked in....  :))
Happy days....

Sprocket Cushions

Alison over at  Cluck, Cluck, Sew has a free pattern & tutorial on Sproket Cushions over on her blog, yes you read it correctly...  F R E E.  This is how mine turned out.  They look great and I got to use the buttons I got from the latest craft show which is a good thing.

FYI.  The light toned fabric is actually a pair of PJ shorts that just wouldnt stay up.  :))  So they have been put to good use in these cushions.

They didnt take long to pop together and they are very forgiving, cause you all know, im not the neatest sewer.  And they still came out looking fabulous.

Hope you have all had a lovely Sunday.

Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair...... 2011

What a week.  I had a girlie day with my Mum (Dawn) on Thursday we headed off to the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair.  A lovely day, the sun shinning, and shopping to be had.  :)  Did I mention we went to shop?
Japanese fabric covered buttons.. By Helen Yang, and yes if you want some done she will do for you.  Too easy.

Quiltmania (The English website) had some sensational books.  This one, which you all know had to come home with me is by Yoko Saito http://shop.quilt.co.jp/en/index.htm.   Her work is just amazing, and the book is absolutely beautiful, translated into French and English, with some wonderful ideas which are totally drool worthy.

Some treasures from Studio Mio I was thinking a little handbag.  So many things to choose from, these little bits were quickly tucked into the bag to come home with me too.

I was watching a demonstration for an Accugo Baby and the different colour options that the demonstrator actually got from this little sample was amazing.  So it too somehow managed to find its way into my bag not only one for me but one for Big Sis (Sue).
I'm loving this girl at the moment Tula Pink.  This fabric is stunning, something different to pop into the stash... Reading her story on how she got started was interesting.  I wonder if there is actually much money in designing fabric.

The quilts on display by The Quilters' Guild of NSW Inc. were sensational as always.  I did manage to get some photos of some of the quilts.  The following is a selection of my favorites that I managed to get a good shot of them.  But of course photos just do not do these quilts any real justice.  The quality of the workmanship was amazing.

Well that's about it from me on the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair for 2011.  I've walked away all inspired and ready to hit the creative highway.

The girlie day continued on with a visit with Dave, Nicky, Sam & Jess, and Denise.  Dinner was sensational, Nicky pulled out all the stops on the culinary delights.  Wonderful to catch up, and talk more creative ideas with Nicky and see some of the family.

So we dragged our bottoms back down to the Illawarra, tired, shopped out, full bellies and in the afterglow of a wonderful day.  We will mark the calendar for next year.

Happy weekend all.

Sunday Shenanigan’s

Craft room chaos................

My craft room as it is today.  STUFF from one end to the other......  thought I would share with you all.  Oh the guilt of it all.....  Mind you who cares....  Not I she cried.  Cause its all mine.

How can a girl be creative in this space though.

So so be it.

The goal for the rest of the year is to finish of some UFO's, you know the ones we all have tucked away.    Oh wait I'm thinking of joining that little sew along with the farmers wifie thingy, book is in the post and templates just need to be printed... So that sort of throws that idea out the window..

So you know I figure as long as I finish a couple things this year then that will be OK.  Right?

The last 6 months of my life have revolved around this little stack of joy.  But I'm over the moon that I have now completed this subject.  Woo hoo....  That is four subjects down.  Now the big question is what to do next?  continue on for the Masters?  Or .. . . . . . . . . . .

Blood sweat and tears filed away in 20 mins and shuffled off into the cupboard with the others......
`
Thanks for the free movie ticket Nuffnang.  Quick questionnaire and I get a free movie ticket.  Love it...

M&M Almonds. . . . . . . . . . .

How good are these? Seriously wish I had never tried them. cause then I wouldn't know what I was missing...  :))

Have a great week all.

Get to that machine. . . . sew like the wind girlie

Click clack sewing....  love it.  nice and easy looks effective, a bit of a no brainer (just what i need at the moment), and "cheap n cheerful".  What more can a girl ask for!

I was thinking these little charm squares, are a charm.  Really if you were pressed for time you could just throw them altogether for a 5 inch square little lap quilt.  Or you could just sew the quarter inch each side of the centre ruled from corner to corner and fold out to have two triangles squared off together (like one segment of the pin wheel).  Effective.

Oh and can I say.  I'm liking the limited cutting.

Anywho... . . .  .  If I can get a couple done each night, then piece of cake.
Happy sewing all.
